How I know I am doin' it right!

Jonathan had his games taken away today. Nothing horrible it is just what happens if I have to tell him to do something more than one time. So today when I told him to stop running in Walmart and he continued to run around and chase Griffin. He lost his games. The nightly ritual around here is Matt comes home from work, we eat dinner and the kids get baths. After they are all Pajamied up Jonathan and daddy play games. Tonight he started to play games and I was looking at him thinking I would give him a his half hour to play then off to bed. When it It clicked that I took his games away. I reminded him of this and he looked at me like a deer in headlights. He dropped the controller and ran to his room. (I thought to pout) Well kinda...he went to throw a fit. He was throwing pillows, kicking toys and whaling at the top of his lungs. I went in there we had a little talk and he calmed down. The reason I am telling you this is because after our talk about how much I love him and that I expect a certain behavior from him and when he doesn't comply he has consequences. A little while after our talk I heard him in his room singing and I went to get Halsey's diaper changed when Jonathan came in Halsey's room and said in a sweet quiet voice "mommy, I'm sorry I was mad at you and not being very nice" I said " Ohhh Honey thank you for telling me sorry that is sweet" then the shocker, He said "come here with me, I have a surprise" I followed him into his room AND IT WAS CLEAN! not just clean but
C-L-E-A-N. He made the bed, picked up toys put all the little toys in the bins, picked up all the big toys and put them where they go. Yeah it's OK I am still in shock too, but now I know I am doing it right. My son Apologized, then cleaned his room! I must be doing at least something right! (you can't see my big proud smile, but I have one...at least for tonight. )

WOW! You go, girl! That is seriously impressive. Jonathan will make some girl very happy one day. Ha ha...I know, let him get through kindergarten first, right? Always love reading your blogs- as well as finding out the recent events, it is great entertainment. Thanks! Oh, and yes, you are a hottie with your new hair! xo

I am so proud...you are a great mother. All kids throw tantrums.

Everyone gets angry and everyone throws some kind of fit once in awhile. The difference is you are teaching him appropriate behavior instead of just letting him vent and "get over it" as so many mothers do.You will be rewarded one day.
